Both are classics that successfully disrupted the watchmaking scene for the better. But AP is more than just the Royal Oak family, in fact it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Jules Audemars 26000PT.OO.D028CR.01
Described as a “pioneer in the field of complications” by Audemars Piguet itself, the Jules Audemars range pays homage to one of the brand’s founding fathers. Not only does this timepiece’s technical complexity make it so impressive, but its level of finishing too, which elevates it to a truly exquisite model from the Swiss watchmaker.
Millenary 77244OR.GG.A034CA.01
First released in 1995, the Millenary collection has reflected AP’s flair for creativity, presenting unusual models that embrace contemporary design and technical know-how. This piece features a frosted gold finish on the bezel, inner bezel, lugs and case, which was created in collaboration with fine jewellery designer Carolina Bucci. What’s more, this feminine Millenary boasts an oh-so pretty opal dial—you won’t want to take your eyes off it.
Code 11.59 Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon
One of AP’s newer lines, Code 11.59 offers a new approach to the usual pieces expected from the watchmaker. Introduced in 2019, these watches display the contemporary evolution of a classic round watch, with a double curved sapphire crystal for an interesting optical experience. This flying tourbillon model is the first time AP has used a self-winding movement that features a central rotor and flying tourbillon.
Haute Joaillerie The Diamond Punk
The Haute Joaillerie range focuses on creating exquisite timepieces that side more with jewellery than traditional watchmaking, but they’re still watches nonetheless. The Diamond Punk is certainly a stand-out piece, taking inspiration from the 70s punk movement with its diamond encrusted studs. It even won an award in the “Montre Joaillerie” category at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) in 2015.
Edward Piguet 25819PT/O/0002/01
Another watch named after the other founder of Audemars Piguet, is this Edward Piguet. Featuring a rectangular case—more attune with Cartier than AP—this piece sings with understated elegance. The minimalistic white dial is disrupted, though, with a tourbillon at 6 o’clock that exhibits just a snippet of the watch’s inner workings.
