News: The New Piaget Polo Date 36mm
Good news for those with wrists on the smaller side, the Piaget Polo collection—which has generally been available in a 42mm sizing—now features six new 36mm models.
The cushion-shaped bezel that has made the Polo so iconic is still there—and so is its vertical brushing that leads the eye towards the dial. Speaking of the dial, it might look fairly familiar—you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference between this dial and the one on the Polo S from just pictures. It's the same deck-like horizontal pattern, but the effect on the 36mm is achieved through guilloché, a little go the extra mile detail there from Piaget.
It also wouldn’t be a Piaget watch without being thinner than its predecessors. This watch comes in at just 8.8mm thick—almost a mm thinner than the Polo S, which was already pretty slim—and a lot of that has to do with the Calibre 500P1, a 3.63mm thick movement.
The very thin automatic Calibre 500P1 is decorated with all the usual suspects: blued screws, a rotor bearing the Piaget coat of arms, Geneva striping and polished chamfers. It has a 40-hour power reserve and a 28,800 vph beat rate.
The new Piaget Polo Date 36mm collection ranges from £11,700 for the blue steel variant—the watch we looked at in this article—all the way to a white gold, full pavé diamond model that I suspect enters six figures.
